Upcoming UTO Webinars

Submitted by Joyce Landers, UTO Vice-President

The United Thank Offering Board will be offering a series of webinars to provide information regarding the 2022 granting cycle. In the past, we have tried to cover all aspects of the grants during each webinar. This year we will be conducting topic-based webinars. This does not mean you cannot ask questions outside of the assigned topic, but we request that you reserve those questions for the end of the webinar discussion.

Due to Zoom security issues, you must register to attend any of the webinars. Links to register can be found on the helpful hints page which has been published with the application materials. All materials can be found on the UTO website episcopalchurch.org/grants-and-scholarships/united-thank-offering-grants/ or the UTO blog site unitedthankoffering.com/apply/.

These webinars are strongly recommended for anyone interested in writing an application, all UTO Coordinators as well as members of your diocesan staff. All webinars will be held at noon and 7pm EST with the exception of the September meeting which will be at 7 pm EST only.

September 21: Introduction of the focus. October 26: Helpful hints on the application and budget. November 16: Helpful hints on the timeline and other forms. January 11: Open webinar for last minute questions.

In addition to the webinars, we are happy to provide grant application feedback. You can send your application to our UTO Staff Officer, The Rev. Canon Heather Melton mailto:hmelton@episcopalchurch.org for an editorial review. She is willing to look at your application, or a portion of your application, up to 5 times. Please be aware of the following deadlines:

January 14: Last day to receive a review of draft applications. January 26: Last day to receive a review of the budget.

February 2: Last day to receive a review for completeness. February 4 at 5pm EST: Applications are due.

We encourage you to submit applications as early as possible. This request applies to grant writers as well as diocesan office staff. Every year we receive incomplete applications at the deadline that could have been fixed. We understand how devastating this can be for those who have put so much work into preparing an application. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email our UTO Staff Officer.

Thank you all for your continued support of UTO through your personal thank offerings. Remember that 100% of all ingathering funds goes towards funding worthy projects, like yours, throughout the church.
