SCHOOL FOR MINISTRY

The School for Ministry equips people who are discerning a call to ordained ministry in The Episcopal Church through rigorous academic study, spiritual formation, and practical ministry experience.

 

Established by the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast in response to the changing needs of congregations and the church, the school offers a local pathway for formation as deacons and priests.

Students engage locally in seminary-level theological education while also developing the pastoral, spiritual, and practical skills needed for ministry in the church and the world. Formation takes place within a community, emphasizing worship, learning, conversation, reflection, and shared life. The school’s approach recognizes that faithful ministry takes many forms, including bi-vocational and other leadership models that serve the needs of local congregations.

 

The School for Ministry also offers a one-year program for lay people who want to deepen their understanding of the Episcopal faith, strengthen their ministry and leadership, and grow in their call to serve the church.

 

Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and responsive to the particular context of the Central Gulf Coast, the School for Ministry brings together academic excellence, spiritual depth, and practical formation. Through this work, the school seeks to nurture faithful leaders who are prepared to participate in God’s mission and serve the church with courage, wisdom, and compassion.
