The Rev. Carl Saxton, II, was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Florida. He felt the call to ministry in 2003 and graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA in History in 2007.

He earned a Master of Divinity Degree in 2014, and a Master of Sacred Theology Degree in 2024, both from Sewanee: The University of the South, School of Theology, and was ordained deacon on May 22, 2014, and priest on December 7, 2014, in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.

Saxton joined St. John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida (Episcopal Diocese of Florida) as curate for two years before being called as rector of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden, Alabama, in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, in July 2016.

He enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, reading, studying history and theology, knitting, and bookbinding. The Saxtons look forward to making their home in Dothan with their two cats, Gustav and Phineas, and their Boston Terrier, Maddy.
