Two seminarians from the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast were among those selected by their seminaries to participate in the Episcopal Preaching Foundation’s annual Preaching Excellence Program. At the end of May and beginning of June Amanda Dosher (Virginia Theological Seminary) and John Fountain (Seminary of the Southwest) spent a week at Roslyn Conference Center in Richmond with almost 50 other seminarians in what is often called “preaching boot camp.” The annual conference exposes seminarians to a variety of styles of preaching along with numerous workshops, and most importantly, a peer review preaching group.
At a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Episcopal Preaching Foundation, the Rev. Dr. Brent Norris (Rector of St. Paul’s Foley) was honored by the Episcopal Preaching Foundation for 17 years of service as a member of the program faculty. He was a PEP student in 1995.
The Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast is currently part of a Preaching Foundation pilot program for the training of Lay Preachers.
