St. Christoher's EYC Mission Trip to Birmingham

Fourteen awesome youth from St. Christopher's EYC along with the Rev. Nick Phares, associate rector; Joe Taylor, Christian education minister; Michelle Haskew, parish administrator, and myself traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, at the end of July for our annual summer trip to serve in various capacities. During the week our teens spent time tutoring and mentoring children at Sparkle, painting homes, serving the elderly, and working at a local clothing and food distribution center. The group also visited the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Kelly Ingram Park, and the 16th Street Baptist Church in order to learn more about the civil rights movement. I am so very proud of all of our youth and would like to also give praise to these teens who served on their third consecutive mission trip: Isabella Haskew, Morgan and Lexi Phares, Declan and Maddy McGurk, Aidan Gampher, Jordyn Gnann, and Caroline Garner.
