2018 Diocesan Acolyte Festival


The 2018 Diocesan Acolyte Festival will be Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Christ Church Cathedral from 8:30 am to 3 pm.

What is the Diocesan Acolyte Festival?

This event is a day all about honoring the ministry of acolytes. The day will include workshops on different aspects of being an acolyte, Acolyte Olympics, catered lunch, and a Festival Eucharist with procession of participants.

Who should attend?

Youth acolytes should come with their adult leaders, who can vest and process. Clergy are also invited. Vesting color is red.

When do we arrive?

Check-in begins at 8:30 am. The Festival begins at 9:30 am and concludes around 3 pm.

What do we bring?

Acolytes will come with “holy hardware” from their church, including robes, crosses, torches, banners, and thuribles.

Where is the Cathedral?

Christ Church Cathedral is located at 115 S. Conception Street, Mobile, AL 36602.

Who is leading the Festival?

Bishop Russell Kendrick and Dean Beverly Gibson.

How can we register?

Beginning, August 1, register clergy, adult chaperones, and acolytes online at www.diocgc.org/event-registration by September 10. The fee is $20 per person and covers materials for the day, t-shirt, and lunch. Scholarships are available as needed. Contact Jenn Johnson at jenn@diocgc.org.
