St. Mary’s, Andalusia, opens Laundry Love ministry

Members of St. Mary’s, Andalusia, along with their partners from First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, and the Soap Opera Laundromat, have launched a new Laundry Love ministry. Laundry Love is a national initiative to help wash the clothes and bedding of individuals and families living in poverty. It seeks to nurture the wellbeing of each person through intentional networking and friendship. A full description of Laundry Love can be found at www.laundrylove.org.

This Laundry Love ministry will be open from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month. It provides money for up to three loads of laundry (washing and drying), as well as detergent and fabric softener. No identification or qualifying information will be collected. Books, coloring sheets, and other activities will be provided for children accompanying those doing laundry. Volunteers from each church will welcome people and explain the ministry. The ministry partners hope to build a sense of community and friendship among all who participate in these Laundry Love evenings.

For more information about the ministry, contact Cindy Howard at St. Mary’s Church, 334-222-2487.
