Following a second tornado that devastated our community within the span of a week, United Way of Escambia County is asking the community to aid recovery efforts in Northern Escambia and Pensacola.
Currently, there are four ways you can help:
Donate to www.helpNWFLrecover.org. All donated funds stay in Escambia County and support local relief efforts. Please indicate which area you prefer to support by selecting "Century/North Escambia relief," "Pensacola area relief" or "Either."
In-kind donations of items should be delivered to United Way of Escambia County (1301 W. Government St. Pensacola, FL 32502) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. United Way will collect and distribute these donations to agencies working directly with impacted residents. Items needed include water, non-perishable food, household supplies, toiletries (soap, dental care items, etc.; baby items-diapers, baby wipes, baby blankets, etc.; blankets; towels) and clothing. Clothing will be sent to St. Vincent dePaul Society, and they will distribute those items to victims through their Century and Pensacola locations.
Offer services (such as tree removal, etc.) by emailing your business's contact information and how you can help to Melissa Lewis at Melissa@unitedwayescambia.org.
Volunteer by emailing your contact information, availability and in which area you would like to volunteer to Sarah Green at sarah@unitedwayescambia.org. Sarah is compiling a list of volunteers. Once plans are finalized, United Way will send that list to BRACE, and they will deploy those volunteers.
Those who require immediate disaster relief assistance should dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211nwfl.org to get connected to community resources that may help. If any questions arise, please call United Way at 850-434-3157.
