About The Event
In 2023 Sue Rollins received a certificate as an End-of-Life Doula from The University of Vermont, Learner College of Medicine. As a Doula, Sue sees this as a part of her Pastoral Care Ministry within the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. Sharing information and providing guidance for the end of life is where this can begin.
February 18 and for the following four Sundays (2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17) at 2 p.m., Sue will briefly share what an EOL Doula is and, more importantly, what are things that should be considered and discussed when making end of life decisions. It often feels too early to have these discussions and make these decisions, until it’s too late. So why not now?
Presentation and discussions will be held in the Nave of the Church of the Redeemer and will include the following:
2/18 - Brief introduction and explanation of an End-of-Life Doula; Living Life Your Way - Having the conversations
2/25 - Goodbye Your Way - Preparing to protect your wishes; Living Will; Medical Power of Attorney
3/3 - Palliative or Hospice Care – What are the differences?
3/10 - Logistics and memorial planning
3/17 - Loss and grief (the long road)
So, grab some lunch, change into comfortable clothes, and come back at 2:00 for the presentation and discussion.
