About The Event
On Sunday, May 18th at 5:00 p.m., the Christ Church choir will sing Choral Evensong, one of the oldest and most beautiful liturgies in the Anglican tradition, in celebration of the Christ Church Open Doors capital campaign. Music will include the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in F by Harold Darke, Anglican chant, and the premiere of a newly commissioned anthem, “Except the Lord build the house” by Christ Church Director of Music Ministry Jason Hobratschk.
Choral Evensong will be followed by a festive reception where attendees may view and learn about the artworks installed as part of the Open Doors campaign: Amy Bright Unfried’s sculpture The Anunciation; local artist John Ball’s painting of Jesus calming the storm; and Pickel Studio’s mosaic depicting the parable of the Sower and the Seed.
