UTO grant awarded to St. James, Eufaula

June 21, 2016

St. James in Eufaula has been chosen to receive a United Thank Offering grant for $17,900 for their new Youth Water Ministry.

The UTO has chosen this year to stress the fifth mark of mission of the Episcopal Church which is “to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.” St. James plans to offer kayaking camps to children from low-income families, giving them the opportunity to learn kayaking skills and about the importance of water ecosystems and the necessity to preserve them. This ministry has the potential to increase awareness of the beauty of creation and our responsibility to care for it.

A complete list of grants funded this year will be available soon at www.episcopalchurch.org/united-thank-offering. UTO supplies can be obtained at www.episcopalmarketplace.org.
