PRE-CONVENTION MEETINGS

Convention delegates are strongly encouraged to attend one of the pre-Convention meetings to learn helpful information regarding Convention. Meeting dates are as follows:

Wednesday, January 24 |  Grace, Panama City Beach  |  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (all are invited to attend Eucharist at 5:30 pm)

Tuesday, January 30  |  St. James, Fairhope  |   6 p.m. to 8 p.m 

Monday, February 5  | St. John's, Pensacola |  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Sunday, February 11 | St. Mary's, Andalusia | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Sunday, February 18 | Christ Church Cathedral, Mobile | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

CERTIFICATION OF LAY DELEGATES

Completed Certificate of Lay Delegate form is due no later than Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

Lay delegates should be ELECTED AND CERTIFIED ON OR BEFORE December 24, 2017.

 

In accordance with Canon 3, Sections 4 and 5, of this diocese:

  1. The number of lay delegates per congregation is based on parish or mission status and upon the number of communicants in good standing, as listed on the 2016 Parochial Report, page 2, line 3. For your convenience, the list on the reverse shows the number of lay delegates each congregation may elect.

  2. Lay delegates are elected for one year, or until their successors are elected, and shall also be the delegates for any special and called meetings of the Convention during their term of service. Each congregation shall also be entitled to elect one (1) alternate delegate for each delegate.

  3. Lay delegates should be elected and certified no later than sixty days prior to the date of the Convention.

This information was mailed, at the end of October, to each congregation and emailed to rectors, vicars, and senior wardens for each church. If you did not receive this information, please contact Jenn at jenn@diocgc.org to ensure we have the correct contact person.

STANDING COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

RESOLUTIONS TO 47TH ANNUAL DIOCESAN CONVENTION

Due date for resolutions to amend canons was November 24, 2017 - form is now closed

Canon 28 requires all proposals altering or amending canons should be presented in writing 90 days prior to the opening of the Convention, to be distributed to congregations 60 days prior to the opening of Convention.

REGISTRATION

Each church is asked to register all of their clergy, lay delegates, and alternate delegates at one time. 

Registration fees are as follows:

$65  |  Voting Clergy Delegates and Lay Delegates - includes convention materials, name badge, and lunch ticket

$65  |  Non-voting Clergy, Alternate Delegates, and Standing Committee Members - includes convention materials, name badge, and lunch ticket

$20 |  Clergy Spouses and Visitors - includes name badge, and lunch ticket

No Fee  |  Youth Representatives (youth representatives are to be appointed by Bishop Russell)

Registration will close on Tuesday, February 6. A late fee of $20 will be added after February 6. Contact Jenn Johnson at jenn@diocgc.org or 850-434-7337 for late registrations. 

EXHIBITORS/VENDORS

All exhibitors/vendors for Diocesan Convention shall be approved by the diocesan office. There are limited spaces available. The fee will be $35 per person and includes table space, name badge, lunch ticket, and convention booklet.

CHILDCARE

Childcare will not be provided during Convention.
