About the Commission on Youth Ministries:

The Commission on Youth Ministries is a wonderful chance for adults, clergy, and most importantly youth, to get involved in this diocese. You will have the opportunity to create, plan, promote, and implement current and new Diocesan Youth Programs.  The commission is comprised of between 12-15 members, half of which should be youth.  If you are interested, here are some of the guidelines/terms:

*Youth must be of high school age and active in their parish.

*Each term lasts a duration of 3 years, starting and ending at Diocesan Convention.

*All members of Commission on Youth Ministries must be certified in Safeguarding God’s Children (if you aren’t and are interested in being on the Commission, there are training opportunities available).

*Commission will meet no less than once per quarter; sometimes more often if necessary.

Parental consent is required for any youth under the age of 18 or still in High School to serve on the Commission on Youth Ministries.

*Please be advised! If you are an adult age 18 or older and you actively participate and/or assist with weekends involving youth, the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast mandates that you be certified in Safe Guarding God’s Children and may require additional information via background check.  This is also a mandate for all paid and volunteer youth workers within a parish.  To get information on training dates and/or on-line training options, please contact the diocesan office at 850-434-7337.  Thank you for your support in continuing to keep these ministries safe for our youth!

Vanessa Riutta is no longer the Diocesan Coordinator for Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. She is the Chair of the Diocesan Commission on Young Adult/Campus Ministry and the Commission on Youth Ministries.
