Summer Serenade 2011 continues at St. Christopher’s

SUMMER SERENADE SERIES IN ITS FIFTH SEASON

The Summer Serenade series is an outreach function of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. These free concerts are held on the church lawn, 3200 N. 12th Avenue beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Should there be unfavorable weather, the concerts will move inside the parish hall.  Attendees are requested to bring lawn chairs.  The church provides a concession stand with hot dogs, snacks, ice cream and sodas.  One may bring own food and drink, if desired.

For those interested, free tours of the church facilities and brief presentation of history of the church are available at 6:00 p.m. before each concert. Tour group will gather near the concession stand.

Pet food for Manna Food Bank will be collected at each concert. Tim Evans, Manna Food Bank Director said, “We discovered that our clients with pets were sharing their food with the pets. Hence, we started collecting pet food, so now the entire family can be fed.”  Concert goers are encouraged to bring donation toward this effort.

The Rev. Eric Long, minister at St. Christopher’s said, “This has been a successful series and we hope the larger community will join us for these entertaining evenings.  We are here for the community and want to get to know you.  There is adequate parking on both sides of the church.  This is a rain-or-shine event. Attendees will notice new landscaping in the concert area.  We are proud of this improvement and we hope it will enhance your enjoyment of these free, musical evenings.
