You are invited to the

54th Annual Christmas Caravan

Friday and Saturday, December 3 & 4, 2010

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church
3200 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola

Friday, December 3: Tour of homes, bake sale and luncheon

Saturday, December 4: Candlelight dinner

“Sharing the Season” is the theme of the 54th annual Christmas Caravan planned by St. Christopher’s Episcopal Churchwomen to be presented Friday and Saturday December 3-4. This is the major fundraiser for the church and community. Last year over $21,000 was raised and donated to area charities.

The name Christmas Caravan came about because in the early years of the church, founded in 1957, there was no parish hall. Consequently the event was held in homes of various parishioners. Hence, participants had to “caravan” from one home to another.

On Friday, December 3, there will be a bake sale at the church, a tour of two homes decorated for the Christmas season and a luncheon in the parish hall. Tickets for the luncheon are $ 10. Bake sale and tour of homes hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Luncheon hours are 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Select arts and crafts vendors will also have their wares for sale in the parish hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Two homes, decorated for the season, will be on tour on Friday. The homes are graciously offered by Bruce and Sharon Higdon, at 3710 Piedmont Rd. and Stephen and Sondra Solice at 2165 Oxford Dr. The Higdon home on Piedmont has open archways and a spacious feeling to the house. The Christmas tree is decorated with an eclectic mix of glass ornaments. Mrs. Higdon’s interest in the fleur-de-lis symbol is reflected in the décor throughout the house.

The Solice home on Oxford Dr. in the Inverness subdivision is two-story with formal living and dining room decorated in a traditional Christmas theme. The dining room is set for an elegant formal dinner party with a Christmas tablescape. A nine-foot Christmas tree adorns the corner of the living room with ornaments collected over the years. The kitchen has a smaller table-top tree with kitchen inspired ornaments. Sondra has collected Santa dolls over the years; these Santa dolls will be displayed throughout the house. Tickets are $8 for tour of both homes.

On Saturday December 4, there will be a candlelight dinner featuring entrée of delicious roast pork beginning at 6:00 p.m. Music for social time and dinner will be provided by classical/jazz/Latin guitarist Arturo. Cost of tickets for candlelight dinner is $20. A silent auction begun on Friday will be completed on Saturday evening. Early ticket purchase and dinner  reservations are suggested because of limited seating. For reservations contact Ms. Van Holt at 850-380-4069.
