ATMORE (POARCH), ALABAMA – The youth at St. Anna’s in Poarch are enjoying a busy summer! Three of St. Anna’s youth, along with a youth coordinator, represented the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast at the Native American Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and immediately following, attended The Episcopal Church’s annual Youth Conference. Both conferences were held at Bethel, University.
Attending the Native American Conference and The Episcopal Youth Conference were L-R: Andrew Daughtry, Elizabeth Mitchell, Kortlan Peebles, and youth coordinator, Velma Amos.
The group returned with all enthused with an outreach project to hold fundraisers to buy mosquito nets for an African village. Funds for this project will be handled through Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD).
A larger group of 41 youth and their adult sponsors went to Disney World in Orland, Florida. They spent four days touring Disney World, the Holy Land Experience, Sea World and the Arabian Knights. Funds for the trip were raised by the youth fundraising drives. Those who made the trip were highly enthused and are now planning a trip for next summer. Everyone said the Holy Land was truly an eye-opener and hope for another visit soon.
Finally, St. Anna’s held a very successful Vacation Bible School the last week of July. All ages attended the evening sessions which included dinner, praise and worship, Bible study and crafts.
