Over 100 women enjoy ECW’s Spring Day Away

St . Andrew’s, Panama City, welcomed over 100 women to the ECW Spring Day Away on April 24th. The theme of the event was “Through the Looking Glass” and the focus of the program was:

  • What images to our lives reflect in the world?
  • Do we prepare ourselves spiritually, mentally and physical to mirror God’s message of love and grace?
The day began with a brunch served by the men of St. Andrew’s with music provided by the Hiland Park Elementary Steel Drum Band.  After welcoming remarks by Laurie Ayers and ECW President Dorothy Moore, Judy Cooley, storyteller, shared two inspirational stories before the speaker of the day, Judith Baum, conducted two sessions of spiritual reflection. Holy Eucharist was served following a time of sharing and meditation, by Chaplain Rev. Julia Phillips, assisted by St. Andrew’s Priest-in Charge, the Rev. Dr. Margaret Shepard.
The afternoon concluded with a yoga teaching by Cherie Meyerhoff and a tea hosted by the women of St. Andrew’s.  During the tea, Mary Jane Buttermore played  piano.  Faye Hutt, chairperson of the St. Andrew’s committee, said that “while the day involved many hours of planning, the blessings fellowship, both in our parish and in the diocese, far exceeded the work involved.   We look forward to joining our ECW at the next event which will be at Beckwith in the fall.”
