Noah’s Ark Event a great success at Redeemer, Mobile

Our 3rd annual Noah’s Park was our biggest and most successful year.  It’s safe to say that we raised at least 3-4 times the funds that we have in previous years (final tally is not available yet).  This means that we will be able to expand our animal ministry in ways that we were unable to before.  In addition, and just as importantly, we had FUN!

The atmosphere was festive and the building and grounds were bustling with activity.  I have no idea how many dogs attended, but there were plenty and they seemed to be enjoying their “day out with their humans.”  We even had at least one cat, Scooter, who braved the dog crowd to take part in the festivities.

(Please give the slideshow a moment to load…thanks.)

People were able to take home photo mementos of their pet’s day, the horse rides were a big success, and the canine massages at The Pink Poodle Salon (provided by Denise Walker of Full Circle Massage Therapy) helped the dogs to chill out from all of the excitement for awhile.  Word from the dogs who dined at The Spotted Dog Cafe was basically “we want more!”  Their humans also enjoyed their food which was generously donated by O’Charley’s Restaurant and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Our Silent Auction and raffle were a rousing success.  We thank PetsMart for their very generous donation of the dog and cat raffle baskets.  Many people enjoyed visiting with the dogs and cats from the Animal Rescue Foundation and the birds from the South Alabama Cage Bird Society.  We were also joined by the Azalea City Cat Coalition who provided educational materials on the importance of “spay and neuter” among other things.

I also want to acknowledge the help we received from the Baker High School Key Club.  The students volunteered their time to assist us with all of the activities and we couldn’t have done it without them.
