Monday through Friday, May 10 through 14, St. Christopher’s, Pensacola will host an icon writing workshop taught by Teresa Harrison. Formerly of Pensacola, now based in California, Teresa is not only a noted iconographer, but a talented and sympathetic instructor as well.
In the course of the workshop, a step-by-step process will result in the creation of an icon that even a beginning (I’ve never held a brush in my life”) iconographer will be happy with. Participants may choose to “write ” either an icon of Christ the Good Shepherd or of the Virgin Mary, Intercessor.
While writing an icon is itself a moving experience, the workshop includes discussion and a daily eucharist, with Fr. Eric Long, rector of St. Christopher’s, as chaplain. Connie Wendleton, of St. Christopher’s, is coordinator and assistant to Teresa, so please contact her for information and/or encouragement. Connie’s phone is 850-494-1262 and email: wendleton6253@aol.com.
