Recovery Ministries Annual Gathering  New Orleans, LA
The Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church will hold its annual gathering in New Orleans on May 8 - 10, 2008. The theme of the event is “A blend of recovery from addiction to recovery of the Gulf Coast.” A variety of speakers, workshops, 12-Step meetings, Eucharists, food and excursions will be offered to those attending. Recovery Ministries Commission members from across the country will network and share ideas and learn what others are doing to bring the mesage of recovery from addictive illneses into our dioceses, parishes and homes with the Episcopal community. Antique Appraisal & Silent Auction  Trinity, Atmore

“The little church with the big heart,” will hold an Antique Appraisal, Silent Auction and a Boxed Lunch Sale on Saturday May 10. The event will be held on church grounds in the 200 block of S. Carney Street, which is just off Highway 31. Funds raised will go toward the continuation of Trinity’s extensive Outreach program in the community and at Fountain/J.O. Spring Clergy Conference   Camp Beckwith

The Spring Clergy Conference will be held May 19-20 at Camp Beckwith. The Very Rev. William S. Stafford, Dean of the School of Theology of the University of the South, will lead the conference which will begin with lunch on Monday and conclude by lunchtime on Tuesday. The Fall Clergy Conference is scheduled for September 14th - 16th, 2008. Clergy are requested to hold the date for this conference which will be held at Beckwith. More information on speakers and topics will be forthcoming.

Clergy Pastoral Training: Working with Gay and Lesbian Persons  Duncan M. Gray Camp and Conference Center, Canton, MS

This workshop will be led by Dr. Phillip Culbertson, recently retired processor of pastoral care at the School of Theology at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The conference will be for those who wish to deepen their pastoral skills in working with gay and lesbian persons and their families. Cost for the conference is $95, payable to the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. Icon Painting Class  St. Francis, Gulf Breeze

Hosted by St. Francis, Gulf Breeze, this Icon Painting class will be held July 12th, 19th, 26th and August 2nd, 9th. This guided step-by-step process will teach how to produce icons for the glory of God. All materials furnished (gesso wooden panel, drawing for icon, 12 tubes of paints, all necessary brushes and 23K gold leaf). No prior art experience necessary; the only requirement is the desire to proclaim the Good News of the Incarnation and that Jesus Christ is Lord . . . in color! Classes will be in the parish hall and all icons will be blessed by The Rev. Al Pruitt upon completion. Total cost of the class is $450 with a $125 deposit requested at sign up. Class is limited to 15 persons. Deadline for registration is June 1st. Checks should be made payable to St. Francis of Assisi and designated Icon Workshop. Christian Education Day for Small Churches  Epiphany, Crestview

Commisson on Mission will be offering an information sharing day on Sunday School Programs for small churches. Representatives from other churches will be displaying programs that have been successful for churches on small budgets and few members. Most programs are written for large churches with big budgets and many classrooms.
The schedule for the day:
8:30 - 9:30 am: Coffee and donuts
9:30 - noon: Presentations about different programs
12-12:30: Lunch provided by Epiphany ECW
12:30 - 1:30: Individual time to talk with Representatives of Church School programs
