Cursillo Staff Scholarship available for first time staffer

The Commission on Cursillo is excited to announce the Fr. Sam Hardman First-Time Cursillo Weekend Staff Scholarship. Currently in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, staff for Cursillo Weekends pay their own way to lodge and dine at Beckwith over the 4 nights and parts of 5 days. In order to broaden participation from across the Diocese, the Commission announces that one full-tuition scholarship (per Cursillo Weekend) will be sponsored by the Commission for any first-time Weekend Staffer who needs financial assistance. The process is completely discreet and inquiry may easily be made to Ms. Janet Foote, Commission Chair, or the Lay Rector for the next upcoming Weekend. The value of this scholarship is currently $220 per weekend for a staff person.

The scholarship is named in honor of The Rev. Samuel Robinson Hardman, retired, Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, who passed away the 10th of February, 2011. He served as chaplain in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1975. Upon retirement he served for ten years on the Diocesan staff as Assistant for Program, and then Archdeacon for Missions. Fr. Sam also provided supply clergy assistance for many years. Particularly important to the Commission on Cursillo, Fr. Sam was instrumental in the establishment of the Cursillo Ministry in the Diocese.

If you wish to honor the memory of Fr. Sam and to support the Cursillo Ministry, you may make a tax deductible donation directly to the Diocesan Office, with your check made payable to the “Duvall Fund—Hardman Scholarship”, P. O. Box 13330, Pensacola, FL 32591-3330. You may also honor/remember someone dear to you by helping fund this scholarship (honorees and families of those in whose memory donations are made will be notified if addresses are provided). Please join us in developing Christ-centered leaders who return from their Weekend to parish and community for enhanced Christian service.
