(Please scroll down for information on the construction team mission trip)
The Commission on World Mission has designated the following dates for the next Diocesan Medical Mission to the Dominican Republic:
Departure: Saturday, March 3, 2012
Return: Sunday, March 11, 2012
From Team Leader, Keith Greene
Our medical mission will be returning to our assigned area in the D.R. of Iglesia San Marcos in Haina, District of Paravia, some 20 miles west of the capitol city of Santo Domingo. We will work with the local priest, The Reverenda Ercilia Paralta who has responsibility for the Episcopal Church of San Marcos (St.Marks) as well as parishioners in the town of San Cristobal and village of Piedra Negra. Our first medical mission to San Marcos was in March of 2011 and was conducted on the grounds of the Episcopal School in the city of Haina (a Taino Indian name). During the upcoming mission, we will additionally reach out to San Cristobal and Piedra Negra. Like missionaries worldwide, team members will be expected to help raise the funds necessary to conduct this mission. Our medicine supplies alone cost between six and eight thousand dollars and a concerted effort is needed to ensure the success of our mission. This mission has proven to be an excellent tool for reaching out to our brothers and sisters in need; and build a solid relationship with our companion diocese of the Dominican Republic.
