Commission on Cursillo holds successful meeting

April 17, Epiphany Crestview — The Commission on Cursillo carpooled its members from different corners of the Diocese to gather for fellowship, evaluation of this ministry, planning and work.

Under the leadership of Bob Whitson (St Mark’s Troy), chair, the Commission recognized what has gone well and what needed improvement. As reported at the diocesan convention, the focus is on three major parts: maintaining and improving the weekend retreats (we do well in that area already); outreach to parishes which have inactive or no Cursillo presence or an inactive Fourth Day Community—we will visit parishes, share the stories, demonstrate the mission statement of “Growing Christ-centered Leaders”; and, being good stewards of the contributions of time, talent, and treasure being invested in this ministry (we will continue the Pay-it-Forward Campaign through April, 2011; trusting and faithful supporters from across the diocese are contributing and we are greatly encouraged by this).

The full Commission was present and fully engaged in this effort. We recognized the incredible contributions of Kathy McGee (St Andrews Destin) who left the Commission earlier to assume (even more) duties at her parish! She and husband Jerry (aka McGee) have served this Commission’s ministries for years and remain key resource contacts.
