Club55 of Holy Cross, Pensacola, tours Leaning Post Ranch

By Betty Enfinger, Coastline Communicator

Molino, FL — Members of Club55 of Holy Cross toured the Leaning Post Ranchon November 16. The Leaning Post Ranch in Molino provides equine assisted activities and therapeutic riding to individuals with disabilities and at-risk youth in Northwest Florida. With a combination of a horse, riding instructor and therapist, the rider achieves specific therapeutic goals: physical, mental, motivational and spiritual.

Fran and Newman Gersin, Executive Directors, are Certified Addiction Associate Professionals who have been working with at-risk youths since 1972. The 40 acre property includes 14 horses, a small farmhouse, a 100 year-old barn, and a stagecoach road that dates back to 1806.

During the lunch and tour, Fran & Newman Gersin explained therapeutic riding and how their 17 horses interact with the disabled and at-risk children. The Gersins are dedicated Christians, doing the Lord’s work with their ministry.

Club55 member, Art Harrison, volunteers two days a week at the ranch. Art, a skilled farrier, demonstrated his craft as he cleaned and trimmed two horse’s hoofs. Attendees had an opportunity to feed and walk the horses.

The ranch always needs good volunteers. Kudos to ARt for being an angel in their midst! To learn more about the Gersin’s ministry and volunteer opportunities, visit www.theleaningpostranch.org.
