“Centering Prayer” workshop planned for October 8th at Christ Church, Pensacola

Have a Centering Prayer Group?

A Centering Prayer Group at Pensacola’s Christ Church is looking for other Centering Prayer groups in our diocese. Several Centering Prayer groups from Pensacola to Tallahassee are in discernment about the formation of a Contemplative Outreach Chapter (you can learn more about that national and international work of Contemplative Outreach at www.contemplativeoutreach.org). If a Chapter is formed, we would like to publicize Centering Prayer and Contemplative Prayer retreats and workshops to other groups in the diocese. Centering Prayer Group Facilitator Workshop – October 8 in Pensacola

This workshop is open to everyone who participates in a Centering Prayer group, not simply facilitators. If you facilitate a Centering Prayer group, desire to facilitate a group in the future, or wish to enrich your experience as a member of a Centering Prayer group, join fellow Centering Prayer group members on October 8 in Pensacola from 9:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. This workshop will focus on the important role of a small prayer group facilitator. Our workshop leader is John Kelsey of Contemplative Outreach. Contemplative Outreach is an international network of individuals and faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel – learn more at www.contemplativeoutreach.org. The workshop’s teachings will be based on the 25 years of experience that Contemplative Outreach has gathered from dozens of visits to Chapters around the country. Contemplative Outreach programs and vision will be presented so that workshop attendees can place the role of Facilitator into the larger context of contemplative prayer in our world today.

John Kelsey is the current Regional Representative for the Southern Region and past Coordinator of the Triangle-North Carolina Chapter. He is serving as a mentor to groups from Pensacola to Tallahassee who are in discernment about forming a Contemplative Outreach Chapter. John is a member of Contemplative Outreach’s Chapter Resource and Communication Services and has a special interest in developing facilitator leadership resources.
