Fall is here, and things are buzzing at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 12099 Co Rd 99, 500 yds south of US 98 stoplight in Lillian, AL, as the members prepare for their annual fundraising, BBQ & Blues, Saturday, October 16th. Plans for this year include plenty of the old favorites that folks have come to expect from this event, plus some new and exciting offerings which are sure to make your day a memorable one! Plan to come and spend the day listening to great Big Band music, once again featuring the Swing sound of the Don Lewis Orchestra, and enjoying BBQ plates at $10.00 each. This year, the irresistible smell of smoke will come from the BBQ pork being cooked on site by Mr. Hollywood himself. Add slaw, beans, and our huge homemade brownies, and you have a great meal.
See photos from last year’s BBQ & Blues!
As ever, there will be free activities for children, a craft fair featuring vendors from near and far, raffles, and a live auction on the grounds, while inside, a silent auction will be held from 10 until 1:30 pm.
Featured in the live auction this year will be a charter fishing trip for up to 9 people, aboard the 45’ Charter fishing vessel, the “Fish n Fool”. Captain Erik Manthei of Lillian has been fishing the waters south of Orange Beach for 18 years, and promises a first class trip. Snapper season is expected to be extended through the third week in November. Fishing is great: a group of men from the church caught their limit in no time, Oct 1.
