For the sixteenth year in a row, the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Dothan, Alabama, celebrated All Saints Sunday with a banner processional.  The EYC created the ten banners, each of which represented a parishioner of Nativity who died in the preceding year. The banners bore the same banner design the church has used since beginning the tradition: a red cross surmounted by a gold crown with the name of the deceased parishioner in blue letters overhead.

This year Nativity remembered Pat Elliott, Madeline Lewis, John and Margaret McKinley, Britt Dowling, Jesse Pribbenow, George Ghode, Gary Jones, October Davis, and Jacob Lackey.  Ten acolytes carried their banners in procession behind the choir and the Nativity Banner, the young bearing in memorium the roll of those who’d gone before.

Under the direction of the choirmaster, Debbie Deas, the Nativity Choir sang the processional into being to the hymn For All the Saints, accompanied by Debbie Deas on the organ, Marcus Hart on timpani and Erman Turkili on violin.
