Quiet Day at Nativity, Dothan featuring “Second Comings in the Season of Advent”

Submitted by Debra Saloom Strickland, Coastline Communicator
Nativity, Dothan

Church of the Nativity in Dothan, AL is hosting a Daughters of the King Quiet Day on Saturday, December 5th, 2009. The theme is “Second Comings in the Season of Advent.” The second half of life, writes Gertrude Mueller Nelson, introduces us to a second Advent. Christ is revealed to us so often in every slipped stitch that we let fall or that fate encouraged us to drop in our first years and which now must be picked up and considered again.

The Daughters of the King will ponder the mystery of the Second Coming at its annual Quiet Day this year at the Church of the Nativity on Dec. 5th, from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm. All women in the diocese are invited to attend.

In the context of the Incarnation – Christ’s coming down from heaven to be made man – we’ll engage the mystery of His coming again. This will be done with the practice of reflection, silence, and prayer; and, weather permitting, will include the use of Nativity’s Labyrinth. The event will be led by Lauren Farrington Flowers and will include lunch, followed by a service of Holy Eucharist. Mother Ede Plovanich will be celebrant and chaplain for the event.

Join us this Advent for an interior look at the Second Coming of Christ celebrated in the season of Advent. For more information and to make a reservation, please call the Church Office at 334-793-7616, or Julana Harrison, Chapter President, at 334-696-4139. We look forward to seeing you there!
