St. Andrew’s hosting week-long Bead for Life party this week

St. Andrew’s will host a week-long BeadforLife party this summer. beadforlifeThe jewelry will be displayed and available for purchase each night of Vacation Bible School (July 26th-30th). In addition, the bead party will be advertised as a community event and opened to the public on Saturday, July 31st, in Byrne Hall from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

BeadforLife is part of an international grassroots movement to overcome extreme poverty. The organization was founded by two American women with the purpose of empowering Ugandan women and helping to lift them and their families from poverty. Ugandan women painstakingly roll thin strips of recycled paper to create colorful beads and then string the beads into beautiful necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

beadforlifeBeadforLife eradicates extreme poverty by creating bridges of understanding between impoverished Africans and concerned world citizens. Ugandan women turn colorful recycled paper into beautiful beads, and people who care open their hearts, homes and communities to buy and sell the beads.

The beads are very fashionable, make excellent gifts, and are reasonably priced. The added benefit is that by purchasing these beads you are making a difference in the lives of many people!  Please help spread the word. Also, if you are interested in helping with the party please contact Laurie Ayers at 265-5978.
