St. Simon’s Annual Rummage Sale planned for April 29 – May 1
St. Simon’s on-the-Sound Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women will be holding a giant Rummage Sale on Thursday, April 29th , 9-5; Friday, April 30th , 9-5; and, Saturday, May 1st , 9-12. The church is located at 28 Miracle Strip parkway (Hwy 98) in Ft. Walton Beach.
Proceeds from this event are used for community outreach needs. Beneficiaries include Sharing and Caring, Habitat for Humanity, Shelter House, Covenant Hospice, Children’s Grief Support, Children’s Advocacy Center, Angel Flight, Scholarships to Christian Education and YMCA, and Children in Crises.
Items for sale include ladies’ boutique, jewelry, books, clothing (men’s, women’s and children’s), furniture, linens, household goods, tools, electronics, plants, toys, linens, and miscellaneous items.

Pig-Out at St. Paul’s, Foley
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley is proud to announce The First St. Paul’s Pig-Out. Please plan on joining in the fun on Saturday, April 24th from 9am until 3pm. BBQ Plate dinners including slaw, beans, a brownie and a drink will be served from 11am until 2pm for a $10 donation. Entertainment is provided by The Sandspur Band and their bluegrass/gospel sound. Vendor Booths are still available. This event is for the whole family, with a children’s activities available all day. Proceeds go to help St. Paul’s, Family Promise, EMI, and Habitat for Humanity. Summer Serenade 2010 schedule announced
St. Christopher’s, Pensacola, has scheduled its fourth season of Summer Serenade. This fun summer concert series will begin on Wednesday June 2 and continue each Wednesday through July 28, 2010. The Summer Serenade series is an outreach function of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. These free concerts are held on the church lawn, 3200 N. 12th Avenue beginning at 6:30 p.m. In the event of unfavorable weather, the music and patrons move inside the parish hall. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs. The church provides a concession stand with sandwiches, snacks, and sodas. One may bring own food and drink, if desired.
The Rev. Eric Long, Rector of St. Christopher’s said, “This has been a successful series and we hope the community will join us for these entertaining evenings. We are here for the community and want to get to know you. There is adequate parking on both sides of the church. This is a rain-or-shine event.”

Ultreya well attended at St. Monica’s, Cantonment
Gary Moore gives talk about "Pay It Forward" Campaign
A second Ultreya in as many weeks took place at St. Monica’s in Cantonment on Saturday, March 27. Over 40 Cursillistas from several parishes gathered to enjoy a delicious potluck dinner and praise music (by St. Monica’s Holy Jam Band joined by musicians from other parishes), a presentation of the “Pay it Forward” campaign by Gary Moore (St. James, Fairhope), a witness talk by Viv Welch (St. Monica’s), echo, Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion by Fr. Milledge Baker of St. Monica’s. There was plenty of time for reunion following the service. See photos here!

Live in Alabama? Here’s a way to be a good steward of the earth..plus receive a rebate
Alabamians can be good stewards of the earth and receive more than energy savings by replacing an old appliance with a new energy-efficient model. For three weeks starting April 19, buyers of certain ENERGY STAR qualified appliances can apply for cash back from the Alabama Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has scheduled the rebate program for April 19-May 9, 2010. Only ENERGY STAR rated appliances purchased during the rebate period will be eligible. More details here!

University of West Florida theatre majors to perform on Palm Sunday at Holy Cross, Pensacola
The 10:00 am service on Palm Sunday at Holy Cross will include a retelling of the Palm Sunday gospel. The story will be performed by a group of theatre majors from the University of West Florida, under the leadership of Asst. Professor Kevin P. Kern and his wife, Natalie. Performed in reader’s theatre style, the piece will tell the story of Jesus’ last hours through the questions of a child witness to the story. Holy Cross is blessed that members Kevin and Natalie share their talents with the congregation.
